Scarce Original German Made WWI Argentine Model 1898 Artillery Sword by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Rare Original WWI Argentine Model 1898 Artillery Sword by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. c1898-1914 Rare Original Argentine Model 1898 Artillery Sword by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. measuring 32 1/4'' overall, 26 1/4'' single-edged spear point blade with a wide single unstopped fuller on the obverse face. The ricasso is marked ''Weyersberg / Kirschbaum & Co. / Solingen'' on the obverse face and the underside of the quillon shows the remnants of the Argentine crest, mostly ground away as commonly seen on imported Argentine blades. There is also a stamp on the back edge of the sword resembling a "A" with looks like a propeller on top and the former owners initials tapped in on the bottom of the hand guard. The blade is bright with very light lengthwise polish marks and would rate excellent if not for some rough grind marks in the fuller. The all-steel hilt shows a dusky ocher-brown patina across the burnished light gray surfaces concentrated mostly on the grip. Aside from the patina the hilt shows few if any handling marks or blemishes and the hilt rates very good plus to excellent overall.
