Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This vintage pottery bowl was made by Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo artist Pedro Lovato and is coil built with micaceous clay in a traditional style, including the one small spot on the rim where there is no paint, leaving an opening for the spirit. Lovato's signature is often mis-identified, as he uses the line of the L to cross the "t"; on the Internet you'll see it as "Lovajo." Lovato is the son of famed artist Reyes Lovato, who as a boy in the 1930s painted for Dorothy Dunn's "The Studio" then later became a potter. Son Pedro was born in 1958, and we believe this bowl was made in the 1990s. Pedro Lovato is still making pottery. Kewa pottery is mostly unchanged in terms of methods since the 1700s, and geometric designs are common. 3.75" high x 8.25" wide Thanks for looking!!
