Description: Nice example of the classic "barrel" Sand Calcite found at Rattlesnake Butte, South Dakota. Collecting has not been allowed since this area was declared a National Natural Landmark some time ago. It is now jointly managed by the National Park Service and the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The only pieces available are those in the market collected prior to the sites protected status. This piece measures about 2.25 inches at its longest axis. The cube in the first photo is for relative size. It measures 1 cm and is not part of the sale. Please review the photos as they are part of the description and show the actual item you will receive.
