Description: Up for auction is an HO scale Stanley Soho & Co. Southern Pacific 79' San Francisco Commuter Coaches. This is SOHO model 0414. The model is of brass construction and was made by Kumata of Japan and was imported in 1973. This model best represents the SP class 72-IC-1 (60 cars) and 72-IC-2 (10 cars) batches built in 1924. These were numbered 2085-2144 and 2145-2154. This model has the correct utility vents, vestibule doors and brass trucks with metal wheels. The underbody are rather bare sporting only a battery box. The car could use brake gear and some other underbody details like a center sill, cross braces and an axle driven generator. The battery box appears to be in the wrong location, but should not be that difficult to move or replace with a more modern version. Trucks have been upgraded to Central Valley trucks that roll much better and are quiet, unlike the squeaky originals. Kadee couplers have also been added to this model. These models are hard to find, especially unpainted. Those modeling San Francisco from 1924-1979 can make great use of these cars as they represent the major class of commuter cars operated by the Southern Pacific in both peak and off peak hours. Some of these cars landed up on various tourist lines after being retired from SP commuter service. This item ships USPS Ground Advantage.
