Whether the project is an urban townhouse, a seaside retreat, or a London villa, the approach of Uniacke is always the same—a collaboration with clients to make understated, refined sanctuaries that offer the perfect settings for everyday life. The book is sumptuously illustrated with two hundred color photographs taken by industry masters François Halard and Simon Upton that truly capture the serenity and timelessness of Uniackes hand-hewn cultivated style. The pages of this book exude the same warmth of an Uniacke interior, heightened by the authors own words as she describes in detail the specifics of each of the thirteen projects explored. The result is akin to an informal conversation, with Uniacke revisiting her journey to share instincts and inspirations. A complete index of Rose Uniacke Editions, the designers furniture, lighting, and textiles, completes this elegant volume. Author Biography Rose Uniacke is an architectural interior designer, a furniture and lighting designer, and an antiques dealer. She and her team work internationally but are based in Pimlico, in central London. Alice Rawsthorn, OBE, is an award-winning design critic and author of critically acclaimed books on design. François Halard has been a regular contributor to American Vogue, Apartamento, T Magazine, and Cabana, among other publications, for over thirty years. Simon Upton travels the world capturing people and their homes on behalf of major magazines and publishing houses, including World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Cabana, Elle Decor (US), Vanity Fair, and Vogue. Review "The British designer ROSE UNIACKE balances rigor and softness in her work, which extends from interiors to her acclaimed lines of furniture, fabrics and paint. In this Rizzoli volume, which includes a foreword by design writer Alice Rawsthorn, Uniacke begins with a look at her own London home. Its spaces prominently display artworks by the likes of GERHARD RICHTER and CARL ANDRE, as well as what she calls "John Soanian views through arches," an allusion to the 19th-century British architect that reflects her love for updating classical forms. With the help of images from photographers SIMON UPTON, FRANÇOIS HALARD and Luke White, she moves on to show off other houses, like a particularly impressive 19th-century Notting Hill home, whose drawing room features Uniackes own Rosewater armchair in dark green across from sleek 1950s ALVAR AALTO chairs, while a bedroom incorporates a chair by JEAN ROYÈRE in yellow velvet and Royère wall lights. On every page, the designer demonstrates her knack for making smart planning look like offhand simplicity." —1st Dibs Details ISBN0847873315 Author Alice Rawsthorn Pages 272 Publisher Rizzoli International Publications Year 2023 Photographer Simon Upton ISBN-13 9780847873319 Format Hardcover Publication Date 2023-09-12 Imprint Rizzoli International Publications Place of Publication New York Country of Publication United States NZ Release Date 2023-09-12 US Release Date 2023-09-12 UK Release Date 2023-09-12 Illustrations 200 Color Illustrations ISBN-10 0847873315 Audience General DEWEY 747.092 AU Release Date 2023-10-15 We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
