ROSALIND RUSSELL - DOCUMENT SIGNED 12/23/1942 - HFSID 265864 ROSALIND RUSSELL While the title of the film was still in the works, the legendary actress signs a document regarding her 1943 film Flight For Freedom Document Signed: "Rosalind Russell" in ink, ¼p, 8½x11. Los Angeles, California, 1942 December 23. In letter form to Russell from RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. In full: "This will confirm that you completed your services in connection with the principal photography of the motion picture formerly entitled 'STAND BY TO DIE' as of the close of December 3, 1942. If the foregoing is in accordance with your understanding, please indicate this by signing in the space provided below." Also signed by an Assistant Secretary of RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. This document refers to Flight For Freedom, which was released by RKO Radio Pictures in 1943. Russell also appeared in a comedy, What a Woman!, released by Columbia that year. In the year this document was signed, Russell made two films: My Sister Eileen and Take a Letter Darling. Nominated for Best Actress Academy Awards for My Sister Eileen, Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947) and Auntie Mame (1958), the beautiful and stylish Rosalind Russell (1908-1976) shone in romantic comedies. She was frequently cast as an efficient career girl who traded witticisms with her leading men, appearing in such films as His Girl Friday (1940) and Take a Letter Darling (1942). In 1972, she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, a special Oscar. Lightly creased with folds, horizontal fold at the upper loops of the "R" and "l" of Rosalind and the "R" of Russell.
