Description: Through the Brazilian Wilderness by Theodore Roosevelt. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1914. Very good plus good in good dust jacket. Maroon cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and graphics on front panel, gilt lettering on spine. Extremities are sunned, more so in the upper right corner of back panel. Edges at head and tail of board spine are crimped, edge at tail has several closed vertical tears of 1/4" or less. Upper page edges are gilt. Side and lower page edges are uneven and age-darkened. Previous owner's name/date on FFEP. FFEP has a shallow vertical crease 2" from and parallel to the fore-edge. Numerous copies of b&w photos including frontispiece with tissue-guard. A full-page map of Brazil showing the entire South American journey of the Roosevelt expedition; also a fold-out attached at the back with a map of the River of Doubt. Several of the Index and Appendix pages are unopened. Text pages are lightly age-toned, else book is internally clean. Dust jacket has been re-backed. The back inside flap and approx. half of the back jacket panel is missing. Sunning to spine and front fore-edge fold. There is significant loss between the back panel and spine, losses across the upper and lower edges at head and tail of spine, the front fore-edge fold and several places along the upper edge of front panel. Photos are intended to be included as part of the description. Please use close-up options for best inspection. Additional photos available at your request.
