Description: Remember when Elvis sang "Blue Christmas" back in the early sixties? Most likely, it played through this handsome Motorola C12B clock radio in Tuxedo Blue made in the banner year of 1961. Beautiful vintage radio with major upgrades! First, it was recapped, having all out of spec capacitors and resistors replaced as well as weak tubes replaced, a new heavy-duty silicon bridge diode to replace the existing selenium rectifier and all switches, contacts and tube sockets cleaned. In addition, a new, polarized AC power cord was grafted onto the original AC interlock and an inline internal fuse added for safety. Both IF transformers were also rebuilt and sport new mica and/or NP0 disc capacitors, and the incandescent pilot lamp was replaced with a brighter LED bulb of the correct (3K) color temperature. So how does it sound? Great! I should mention that this radio has a feature I've never seen before in an AA5 style clock radio-two 35C5 audio output tubes in push-pull orientation, resulting in tons of volume with very little distortion. In other words, this clock radio will really wake you up in the morning! The electric Telechron clock mechanism has also received the proper attention by being cleaned, serviced and re-lubed with zero weight synthetic oil so that it runs smoothly, accurately and quietly. The handsome MCM cabinet was taken apart and thoroughly cleaned, then hand polished with Novus plastic polish until it gleams. As you can see from the photos, the radio presents quite nicely from all angles. I have supplied several sharp photos so please inspect carefully before you buy. Ships safely and double bubble wrapped with tracking included. No returns. Thanks for looking. NOTE: IPOD AND BLUETOOTH IN 2ND TO LAST PHOTO IS NOT INCLUDED IN AUCTION, BUT MERELY JUST TO SHOW WHAT CAN BE USED WITH THIS RADIO. THANKS!
