Description: It was my understanding that the Regency style of chess pieces were popular in the mid to late 19th century. These pieces are showing very little age. Are they still making them? Needless to say this is a fairly large size with the king height being approx 3-1/2". Quite a few of these sets have passed through my hands over the years and I never saw a set with felted bases until this one. Probably added by a previous owner. The "very old" board I am including was found at an antique show and is made of linen or some cloth over some type of chip or cardboard with paper on the playing surface. It is obviously distressed and I think it complements this old style of pieces.
