Description: This is a fascinating instrument that requires a caretaker who is prepared to restore it. It has several issues I don’t know its history but I’d guess it was stored new in a dry heat intensive environment. The metal body is mint just a little trial play on it but the neck has multiple splits, a glue repair at the stock as it must have been stored tightly strung. The ebony fingerboard had shrunk exposing the frets, which have been filed back some but are still rough and a little sharp so sanding and refinishing is still required. Multiple places show splitting at the frets so I don’t know if the wood wasn’t cured right or what. So the body is perfect but the neck is a mess. This guitar listed in the 1200 range, I paid 800 for it like a fool, have it for 400 plus shipping. It’s still an intense sound machine throaty deep vibrations in sustained hum from the slightest pluck. I’ve played around with a few resonators this is the biggest loudest sound I’ve ever heard come from one. It sounds like someone made a guitar out of an old pickup truck. But it is heavy as a sack of bricks with its all-brass body plated in nickel. I’d like to flip this for a wood body like I had before, that I can carry. This is a beautiful replica of a famous historic instrument and it sounds like nothing else on earth. With a little care and diy you have a real bargain here.
