There was every grade of material available; from pale pink chips to deep red faceting grade. Complete crystals were very scarce and very expensive. Most of the material offered were cleavages. The specimen we offer is a good crystal of the red rhodochrosite. It has one crystal face with other faces being cleavages. In color it is a translucent medium red. Four of its faces have a light coating of a white mineral; two cleavage faces (bottom photo) show the excellent red color. The specimen has tiny crystals of pyrite scattered around.
