Description: Scarce WW2 Town/ County service medal. A very common practice during WW1, the awarding of town , county and state medals wide.. during ww2 very few of the local or even state municipalities awarded medals.... this being one of the rare county medals that was awarded... This is the Kenosha County Wisconsin WW2 service medal..it was awarded in 1946 at a large ceremony to all returning ww2 veterans who saw overseas service during World War Two. It is a stunning bronze medal w the eagle being a cross bar over Liberty, Liberty has a wreath overhanging the sea which had a large battleship. Behind here is the shield of the US. The top bar is also bronze and has VICTORY across the top. The back has an inscription from the citizens of Kenosha to there ww2 veterans and the date of the presentation July 4th 1946.. This example is about as nice as they come. The bronze has a stunning gold patina and the ribbon is original and exhibits minor wear! A must have missing from most ww2 medal collections. Please check out my other militaria / medals and collectibles! Thank you
