Description: RARE NATURAL TANZANITE DIAMOND FLOWER STERLING 7 1/2” BANGLE BRACELET NEW. I found this beautiful bangle in the original box on the top shelf of my closet. It is new and has been stored in my climate controlled smoke free home since purchasing. I think it is vintage but not sure. I have loved the Tanzanite stone since I first saw it in the 1980s because of the ever changing colors of the stone from deep violet, blue, and burgundy. I owned a business at the time and was able to purchase a beautiful 3 carat Tanzanite and Diamond Ring wholesale, which is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry. Since that time I have purchased a necklace and earrings to match the ring. When I saw this bangle for sale on television it was in Sterling but the stones were beautiful, my other pieces are in white gold, I purchased it. It’s just as beautiful in person but because it is a bangle, it fits loose on the arm, and I could remove it over my hand. I would keep it but it is so loose on my arm, I am afraid I will loose it, probably the reason I never wore it. I am now retired and downsizing my own personal items to supplement our fixed income. All of my items are authentic and were purchased by me from reputable retailers. Tanzanite is one of those stones that changes colors according to the light. This beautiful blue violet stone can appear to have flashes of burgundy in certain lights. Sometimes it is called the miracle stone because it is only found in Simanjiro District of Maynard Region in Tanzania in a very small mining area near Mountain Kilimanjaro. It was found first by Jumanne Mhero Nyoma and later in the same year by Manuel de Souza, a gold prospector in the Meererani hills in 1967. Many geologists were enlisted to discover the scientific name of the stone. It was eventually sent to the Gemological Institute of America, who verified it was a new gem. Henry B. Platt, a great grandson of Louis Comfort Tiffany and vice-president of Tiffany & Co., saw an opportunity to capitalize on the rarity and single location of the stone obtained rights to a large quantity of the stones. The name “Tanzanite” came from Tiffany & Co. after Tanzania, where it was discovered. It was introduced to the public by Tiffany & Co.in 1968. The Tanzanite mines were taken over in 1971 by the Tanzanian government. The Tanzanian government continues to control Tanzanite mines in Tanzania. The production of the mines has been shut down off and on ever since, limiting the amount of Tanzanite that can leave the area. In 2002, the American Gem Trade Association chose Tanzanite as a December birthstone. As of 2020,Tanzanite has never been successfully synthesized in a laboratory. Because of its rarity, problems with production at the mines, and market demands, Tanzanite has been imitated in several ways. Among the materials used for this are cubic zirconia, synthetic spinel, yttrium aluminum garnet, and colored glass. Imitation Tanzanite only has one reflective color, unlike real Tanzanite has a spectrum of Purple, Violet, Blue, and Burgundy. I have included the information about Tanzanite because there is a lot of imitation Tanzanite and very light inferior Tanzanite for sale for cheap prices but real natural Tanzanite is rare and a stone that is meant to be cherished and a family heirloom, like Diamonds.
