Description: Up for sale is this awesome British made 7x,30 of unique shape and size! Cleaned internally, they offer superb views from uncoated optics since they were made before World War Two. We estimate somewhere between 1933 and '35 based on the serial numbers and by comparing others on FLICKR. Focus controls are now far, far smoother than when first received. We painted the entire body using a quality high gloss oil based enamel after cleaning and degreasing the original, heavily faded and quite smelly pebble grained vinyl covering. Had to be done as the odor from (probably) decades of storage in the original case was intolerable and prevented it's use. The case still smells from fungus/mold and needs to be left out for days in the sun. Even then, we're not sure if it will ever be usable to store the optic and would avoid doing so. Meanwhile, it's a nice display piece and comes in fine cosmetic condition with its original leather carry strap. A rarity. Another unique feature of this unusual squat and wide binocular is the left side diopter. We added a set of up-cycled ocular lens caps for the pristine eye lenses. And the objectives are in just as good, no great, shape! To lug this weighty little beauty around we found a detachable wide strap that snaps onto the added white zip ties added to the strap lugs. The weight comes, in part, from the use of brass prism covers top and bottom. Satisfaction or request a return and cheerful refund within three days of receipt, please.
