Description: I can't help but love this company, as it was founded in the beautiful state of Minnesota in what we call "bluff country" bordering the mighty Mississippi. Upon research, this wonderful old bowl was produced in the late 1920s & into the 30s by Red Wing Potteries. Some products were marked with the red wing, but others were not. I love the simplicity of these old heavy pieces. Very sturdy and versatile, this bowl is perfect for mixing up small recipes. The 1.5" wide rim has two nice blue stripes, and the bottom section of the outer side of the bowl has vertical, round ribbing. A wonderful piece from yesteryear! A little bit of history from wikipedia.com: Red Wing pottery refers to American stoneware, pottery, or dinnerware items made by a company initially set up in Red Wing, Minnesota, in 1861 by German immigrant John Paul. The name changed several times until finally settling on Red Wing Potteries, Inc. in 1936. The pottery factory that started in 1861 continues to the present day under the names of Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Stoneware. Manufacturer: Red Wing, USA Condition: Excellent Antique Condition. Nicely antiqued with age (see photos). This is just a beautiful bowl and the condition is so nice for its age! Measurements: 9.5" rim diameter x 5" high x 1-1/2" wide rim top to bottom.
