This postcard shows a great view of a circus side show attraction in a small Upstate NY town! The image shows a group of adults and children at a fair, carnival or circus. There is a sideshow attraction up on a raised platform. A barker lures the visitors in to here about the attraction. A canvas circus banner or broadside above shows a woman in a costume surrounded by snakes! The banner reads The Wonderful Den Of Snakes. The card front is hand printed and reads Snake Den, White City Lestershire. Lestershire is the pre-1916 name of what is today known as Johnson City NY. It is located in New York's Broome County and was incorporated in 1892. The town changed its name to Johnson City in 1916 in honor of George Johnson who led the Endicott Johnson Corporation. The card back is divided and is not postmarked. Condition is good to very good as shown in the scan. Guaranteed vintage and original. The watermark is not on the postcard you are buying here.
