Description: Exceptionally rare single line “Roby & Co” model 1860 Cavalry saber. An order of 410 of these swords were made in 1861, and bore no government inspectors stamps as they were destined for a state unit. According to author John Tillman, these swords were procured to outfit the famous 1st Vermont Cavalry, who saw action throughout the war. Sword is in overall very good condition, there is a slight bend in the blade midway through that is visible when looking down the spine (could not get a good picture as it was not perceptible in it). Some nicks on the edge as well (pictured). One of the rarest US regulation swords you can find, and these never come up for sale!!
