Rare Maitland-Smith Faux Tortoise Shell and Mother Of Pearl Dome Box

This piece is likely vintage but i am not sure. It is a gorgeous maitland smith piece. It has what looks like mother of pearl with a faux tortoise shell? Lid. Im not sure if the mother of pearl is faux or not. It appears to be resin underneath. The “wood” interior is faux. It is heavy. The color will vary from photos due to lighting. It has a gorgeous iridescence. There are some small knicks here and there on the exterior. The interior rim has multiple chips but they are not noticeable when the lid is on. There are some marks here and there on the lid and base. The lid looks like may have some teeny tiny paint splatter dots on it ; but i am not sure? There will be surface scratches, and additional signs of use. I noticed a small chip on the exterior bottom rim. There are likely some other small chips. It is likely that i have missed some small flaws because of the iridescence and busy design. Buyer should expect more wear than what may be visible or mentioned. I have not been able to find another one of these so it seems to be an uncommon piece. The fabric underneath is a bit beat up and dirty. It will need some light cleaning up. The color will vary slightly from photos due to lighting. It is SOLD AS IS. Please view all photos using zoom.
