Description: I have the honor of being asked to sell this set of Hawes wrenches. James C. Hawes, Brooklyn NY patented convertible ratchet wrench. Marked with "PAT. APL'D FOR". Patent was issued on January 14, 1913. The wrench is number 319 in Schulz and is on page 160 in Copes American Wrench Makers 1830-1930. 8 1/2 inches long.Wrench works great. Looks great too. It does have EU stamped on it. Not sure what the significance of that is. This is a wrench I have always wanted, but not at what they sell for, as I more into farm implement wrenches. The second wrench is a Jim Keats miniature of the Hawes wrench. It is 4 1/2" long.Jim Keats is well known for making functional miniature wrenches. He made 12 of these Hawes wrenches in 2008. This had to be one of the most difficult to make of all the different ones Mr. Keats has made. This is a completely functional miniature, it operates the same in every way as the original wrench. Jaw width is adjustable, it reverses and ratchets just the same. It is signed with the JK on the head of the wrench. Mr. Keats also signed and dated the wooden box under the green felt that the wrench lays on.This is a rare opportunity to own the set of wrenches in a one shot deal, and there is only 12 opportunities to own the Jim Keats miniature anyway. And the owners of them don't normally give them up very easily. Take advantage of the chance while it is available. Hilary Klein, who also made miniatures (I have a few of his listed too) never made a miniature Hawes wrench. This set will be the center of most collections! Both of these wrenches have entries on 45spaces, the new database for everything wrench related. https://www.45spaces.com/vintage-wrenches/r.php?r=patent-1050131-issued-january-14-1913 https://www.45spaces.com/vintage-wrenches/r.php?r=patent-1050131-issued-january-14-1913-us I now have Ebay set up to add $1 per additional item for shipping. This will somewhat make it easier to combine shipping as a buyer. You won't need a corrected invoice. If you are going to buy quite a few, say like 10, I should be able to refund some of the shipping cost back to you now. But it will depend on size of box and weight too.
