Rare Carl Thieme 7 5/8" Dresden Germany Hand Painted Floral Reticulated Plate

Description: RARE Carl Thieme Dresden Germany Antique Hand Painted Floral Reticulated Plate 7 5/8". Absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly rare Carl Thieme, Dresden, Germany hand painted porcelain plate. Delicate pink roses swirl around the central, gold circled rose cartouche of this pierced porcelain beauty. The reticulated rim is patterned with flowers of pink, blue and yellow amongst green leaves. More gold trims the lacy edges of the rim. This is not a pattern easily found, as it was created exclusively for retailer the eminent jewelry store Bailey, Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia, PA. Marked on the top backside is the BB&B mark. In the center, under glaze, is the mark of designer Carl Thieme, with hand scrolled cursive "Dresden, Germany". Below is scratched 7681/123. At the bottom appears more hand scrolled cursive, "Dec: 299, Dpos" The Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co ., known specifically for their high-end goods, jewelry, as well as a successful insignia department which designed and manufactured medals, ribbons and honor awards for the U.S. government and military and naval academies. For nearly a century, BB&B produced the Congressional Medal of Honor, the first 40,000 Purple Hearts awarded, and class rings for West Point and Annapolis. Among the medals designed or produced by the firm were the Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Service Cross and Distinguished Flying Cross. Charles Lindbergh and Admiral Richard E. Byrd received the first two Distinguished Flying Crosses in 1927. The current version of the Great Seal of the United States was designed by a BB& B artist in 1904. The Stationery Department, according to company legend, produced the invitations for the presidential inauguration of James Buchanan in 1857. President Abraham Lincoln was familiar with the company's work after receiving a silver cup and plate personally crafted for him as a Christmas gift. Other notable personalities known to have received or purchased products of BB&B, are Presidents Ronald Reagan, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and Herbert Hoover, as well as Nelson Mandela, Gen.
