This is an ACTUAL field-used Union Army GENERAL ORDER originating from the office of ASSISTANT ADJUTANT GENERAL E.D. TOWNSEND, an assistant to Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. This General Order has the two prong holes along the left side by which it was attached to two covers at the end of each year during the CIVIL WAR. The General Order you receive will be selected at random from my inventory for the year 1864 and may not be the EXACT General Order pictured. Perfect for framing and display, this historic piece was actually USED DURING THE CIVIL WAR, in 1864, 153 years ago!
