Description: WW1 Australian RAN M1907, 1910 dated, naval stamped, hooked quillon bayonet by Robert Mole, post war used by members of the Western Australian RAN Cadets at H.M.A.S. Canning. Service polished steel fittings overall with N.S.W. naval stamped '2' and numbered 4735 stamped steel pommel with working release button, good dark brown wooden grips, muzzle ring and metal guard with hooked quillon. A 43cm steel blade, showing MOLE, crowned ER and 11' 10 (November 1910) manufacture date with naval 'N' stamp. Scabbard of leather and metal, with tear drop frog stud holding in place the WW2 era white enamel painted canvas frog. Overall bayonet in scabbard length 58cm, bayonet in good condition, well used condition.This R.A.N. bayonet was with the Naval Reserve Cadets, until 1992, a service life of 80 years and was awaiting collection for destruction at the naval store, but became 2 of 3 known to have been saved from destruction. Ex. George Trotter collection, with this example being featured on pages 162-163 in George's book 'A Guide to Small Arms in Western Australia'. All original.
