Description: Stunning rare and unusual Italian made box made of imported wood covered in Italian gold and colored embossed leather commemorating the 1939 New York World's Fair. Graphics on the cover depict the symbol of the fair: The Trylon and Perisphere as well as 3 flags of foreign countries who exhibited at the faIR. The box measures 4 3/4 " X 4" X 1 3/8" high. The interior of the box features a solid brass 2 1/2" long hinge as well as a beautifully lacquered wood interior.This is a uniquely crafted box that was probably sold at one of the fireign exhibits at the fair in 1939.
