Description: Genuine Very Rare Circa 1896 Handcoloured Lithograph of Royal Danegelt mounted in what could be the original frame, as the dark wood frame with an inner gold gilt surround is at least antique, and probably the same era as 1896. Frame size: 33cm x 28cm x 3cm Litho. size: 28cm x 25cm Bottom centre, reads: 'ROYAL DANEGELT. - THE PROPERTY OF SIR WALTER GILBEY, BART. Three-year-old Hackney Stallion. FIRST Prize and Reserve CHAMPION at the Hackney Horse Society, London Shows 1896 and 1897. FIRST and CHAMPION, Royal Agricultural Society, Leicester Show, 1896. The wooden frame with a gold trim inner, is in solid antique condition with signs of wear and tear consistent with age. It had to be removed from its frame, as the inside glass was dirty, and parts of the gold inner trim had come away, which could happen again, and why there is now new backing tape. Slight signs of foxing and age, other than that it's in fine condition, ready to hang and admire.
