RARE 1888 Sunshine for Little Children Premium Num Antique Children's Book XXLT9

Description: Rare 1888 Antique Children's Book PREMIUM NUMBERSUNSHINE FOR LITTLE CHILDREN Published by Sunshine Publishing Company - Philadelphia 96 Numbered Pages - Approx. 10½" x 13" From the back cover: "A large 48-page [i.e., # of leaves] folio, printed from new and elegant type, on the finest toned paper, containing some of the best wood engravings ever shown in this country, and bound in covers handsomely decorated with colored lithographs." [ FEATURES AND DETAILS... ] Provenance: This book was owned by Lydia H. Tatum of Colora, Maryland. It is from a collection of her childhood books--all between 1888 and 1901--that came up for auction with the estate of Jane Canby Balderston Dye, whose relationship to Lydia I have not been able to ascertain, but I believe she was her godmother. A couple of the books in the collection are inscribed as gifts to Lydia, though the rest of the books have no name appearing in them at all. Please see the final photo ... which is included for reference only. (The item is not being sold with this book.) It shows a letter (from the same estate) written by Jane to Lydia in 1915--about 15-20 years after the copyright date on most of these books so, presumably, Lydia was nearly grown up by then. As for Jane, she was also of Colora, Maryland, and herself a direct blood descendant of Betsy Ross (of flag fame). She who was married to Daniel Sheets Dye. Together, Jane and Daniel were missionaries in China with West China Union University until 1949, when they were forced to leave due to the political climate. To see all the Lydia Tatum books I still have listed on eBay, enter XXLT9 in the eBay "Search" field and you'll see them all. Important: I am always glad to combine shipping PROVIDED you make all your purchases first and do not pay until you have contacted me and I have sent you the combined-shipping invoice. (If you pay first, then eBay will charge you the full shipping price per item.) Thank you! [ CONDITION... PLEASE READ ] All books in Lydia Tatum's collection are WELL LOVED. These are being sold for their historical and sentimental value, not for being pristine copies. (They are not.) Most of these books have lovely lithography, engravings and/or woodcut illustrations. HOWEVER ...Expect detached, and sometimes missing, covers and pages, markings, toning/foxing, chipping, and other issues. The F. Warne painting and puzzle books have been fully painted/cut as they were intended to be. Overall bookseller condition: FAIR The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique books always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this book (or set) that's not perfect.PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER. [ ALL ABOUT SHIPPING... ]DON'T OVERPAY FOR SHIPPING: U.S. purchasers, you can choose from various shipping options in this listing. Shipping costs vary dramatically depending on your Zip code, so choose the one that best suits your needs. I never inflate shipping to make hidden profits. If you believe the shipping is too high, please message me with your Zip code, and I'll be glad to double-check it for you!SHIPPING UPGRADES: At our discretion, we may upgrade your shipping to a different service at no additional charge to you ... provided it's rated the same (or faster) than the service you chose. If you do not wish to have your shipping choice upgraded, please message me as soon as you complete your purchase. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: By default, international shipment is through eBay's Global Shipping Program, which means the shipping rate (cost) is determined by eBay -- outside my control. BUT ... If you live in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, or U.K., message me to see whether there may be a cheaper alternative using Priority Post -- depending on the size and value of your parcel. COMBINED SHIPPING: I will gladly combine shipping if you contact me and request a combined invoice before paying ... and provided the items can travel safely in the same box.
