Holding lots of warmth and vintage styled character, it’s suitable for anyone from traditionalists, to abstract artists delving into ambience and experimentation. The circuits ordered as they would have been in a retro set up; a delay pedal ran into the front of a tube amp, the signal then hitting the amps internal Tremolo circuit, and then finally going to its spring Reverb tank - this pedal follows the same classic sequence. The Delay is based around a classic PT2399 chip, which naturally degrades as it repeats, adding analog style and colour. Controls include ‘Delay’, ‘Feedback’ and ‘Mix’ with an added ‘Tone’ control which darkens or brightens repeats. Short delay times achieve retro slap-back and rich traditional delay sounds, while longer repeats colourise over time allowing for ambient, dub-like, and noise fuelled experimentation.The Tremolo section is based around the same circuit used in the classic Vox Repeater Tremolo - even using the same genuine NOS vintage 2N2646 transistor’s as found in the original! It’s controls contain Depth, Rate and Mix. The ‘Mode’ switch allows the Tremolo circuit to kick up a gear into less traditional but much faster, and harder modulation and chopping, still achieving the same retro warmth, but with a much less conventional sound than its default setting. Similar to a modern/vintage switch, it allows the Tremolo circuit to behave like two completely different palettes of sounds.The Reverb contains the controls “Depth”, “Attack” and “Dwell”. Designed around a “Spring” style sound, it has enough controls to hone in on many shapes and styles of Reverb, which can cross into Plate and Ambient like territory. As with the other circuits, it is entirely hand soldered, but also incorporates an “Accutronics” Brick. This is a Reverb module that was developed by Brian Neunaber who is responsible for the world renowned Neunaber Reverb units, including the much famed Neunaber Wet. Available in 3 different reverb lengths upon request, this circuit as standard includes the longest option available. Providing anything from rich, classic spring drip, retro slap-back pre-delay, as well as all those weird and wonderful warm, coloured, ambient, spacey and eerie effects. As with all Rafferty pedals, this is entirely hand crafted including the soldering of each and every component, and point to point wiring throughout. Likewise, it uses all audio grade capacitors and metal film resistors, including genuine Taiwan Blue deluxe footswitches, Alpha Potentiometers and finished off with Switchcraft jack sockets.
