"Rab and His Friends" & "Majorie Fleming"-John Brown-Red Leather-c 1900-Putnam

Description: Offered is the antique leather-bound book containing the two stories "Rab and His Friends" and "Marjorie Fleming", written by John Brown M. D. and published in New York by G. P. Putnam's Sons. The book is undated but it was probably published some time around 1900. It is one of Putnam's series of "Ariel Booklets". There is one frontispiece illustration and some additional small graphics elsewhere. The small book is approx. 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" and contains 108 pages, plus a few additional pages in the back advertising other books by the publisher. The book is in very good condition. Most of the red soft leather cover has little wear, the gold words and designs on the front and spine bright. There is a little bit of wear at the top and bottom of the spine, the lower right front corner and a bit on the back. There is no cracking inside either the front or the back. The endpapers are fairly clean, with the "The Ariel Booklets" Art Nouveau-style logo in green. The pages are rough-cut on the bottom and side, with the top gold edge slightly worn but still somewhat shiny. I see no missing or torn pages, the tissue paper between the frontispiece illustration and the title page intact. All of the pages are well-attached to the binding. The pages are clean and clear, with little to no foxing. I see no writing in the book.
