Quit Like a Millionaire: No Gimmicks, Luck, or Trust Fund Required by Kristy She

Description: Quit Like a Millionaire by Kristy Shen, Bryce Leung Quit Like a Millionaire is a bull***t-free guide to growing your wealth, retiring early, and living the life youve always dreamed of.As The New York Times recently noted, FIRE is "a growing movement of young professionals who are intently focused on quitting their jobs forever." Kristy Shen retired with a million dollars at the age of thirty-one, and she did it without hitting a home run on the stock market, starting the next Snapchat in her garage, or investing in hot real estate. In Quit Like a Millionaire, learn how to cut down on spending without decreasing your quality of life, build a million-dollar portfolio, fortify your investments to survive bear markets and black-swan events, and use the 4 percent rule and the Yield Shield-so you can quit the rat race forever. It may sound complicated, but Shen is here to tell us that if she did it, anyone can. Not everyone can become an entrepreneur or a real estate baron; the rest of us need her mathematically proven approach to retire decades before sixty-five.Shen is not your typical investment guru. She grew up in abject poverty in rural China, worked for a decade as a middle-class immigrant professional in Canada, and now travels the world as a retired millionaire. In short, she really walks the walk, and here she shares the mindsets she developed at each income level that launched her to the next. You have come to the right place. [Kristy and Bryce] take you through the process step by step, with actionable things that you can do no matter what your age, location, background, or education."-- JLCollins, bestselling author of The Simple Path to Wealth " Quit Like A Millionaire is about so much more than making money, traveling the world, and retiring early (although it teaches you how to do all three insanely well!). Its a new roadmap to living an awesome life! You dont need to settle for status quo. Lifes too short for that; so dont. This book will both inspire and entertain you, while actually giving you the steps and mindset to become a millionaire. Retiring early isnt easy, but its never been easier in history to make it happen. Theres no fluff here. This is the real deal."-- Grant Sabatier, author of Financial Freedom ; creator of Millennial Money "When your money and priorities are in sync, you find financial peace; Ive taught that principle for years. Kristys personal story showed me how one does the scary work required to discover those real priorities. This book is a testament to the power of knowing what you want your money to do for you with absolute clarity, and then going after it unapologetically."-- Jesse Mecham, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of You Need a Budget ; founder of YNAB "Shen and Leung are the poster couple of the FIRE movement, which is spreading worldwide." -- Womens Health Australia "Two heroes of the FIRE movement." --Salon Promotional "Headline" From the vanguard of the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement, a bold, contrarian guide to retiring at any age, with a reproducible formula to financial independence-no gimmick, luck, or trust fund required. Excerpt from Book CHAPTER ONE: BLOOD MONEY One of my fondest childhood memories is digging with my friends in a medical waste heap in rural China. As we sorted through the piles of latex gloves, soiled gowns, and used syringes, a tiny voice in the back of my five- year- old head suggested that maybe this wasnt such a great idea. But that was overridden by a much louder, more hopeful voice saying, "What treasures will I find today?" Now, dont get me wrong. I didnt live inside the medical waste heap-- Im not a troll. But I did enjoy it because unlike in a real store, if I saw something I wanted, I could actually get it. Otherwise, a typical experience went like this: "Mom," I would say, my face pressed up against a glass case, "I know were poor and we dont have any money. But one day, when I grow up, and I make my own money, then can I have that doll?" And somehow the answer was still no. So thats why my friends and I were behind the hospital that day. If I couldnt buy a toy, I reasoned, maybe I could make one. I did find something, believe it or not, in a seemingly infinite supply of discarded rubber bands. We tied the loops together to form a chain and then made the chain into a Chinese jump rope. The best part was that every time our rope broke I could repair it by just swapping out the wonky rubber band. These days, this would be considered grounds for child services to get involved, but back then, this was just what life was like. We were dirt- poor. And when youre dirt- poor, your choice isnt between Barbie and My Little Pony. Your choice is between food, heat, and medicine, in that order. Toys never even entered the picture. According to the US Census Bureau, in 1987, the national average wage in the United States was $18,426.51 per year per person.1 In China, it was 1,459 CNY, or $327, per year per person.2 To put that in perspective, earning enough to buy a Nintendo Entertainment System (Deluxe Set) at its then- retail price of $179 would have taken the aver Details ISBN0525538690 Author Bryce Leung Pages 288 Publisher Penguin Putnam Inc Year 2019 ISBN-10 0525538690 ISBN-13 9780525538691 Format Paperback Place of Publication New York, NY Country of Publication United States Subtitle No Gimmicks, Luck, or Trust Fund Required Illustrations 5-10 black and white photos Imprint TarcherPerigee Short Title Quit Like a Millionaire Language English DEWEY 332.024014 Audience General/Trade UK Release Date 2019-07-09 Publication Date 2019-07-09 AU Release Date 2019-07-09 NZ Release Date 2019-07-09 US Release Date 2019-07-09 We've got this At The Nile, if you're looking for it, we've got it.
