Description: This is a very old style tile-based Mahjong game that was developed in China during the Qing dynasty... "Old Hong Kong Mahjong" uses the same basic features and rules... The game has taken on a number of trademarked names, such as "Pung Chow" and the "Game of Thousand Intelligences". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahjong This model is "Pung Chow style 302" set by Pung Chow Co... New York - 1923 which includes an instruction manual (perfect condition) & price list (paper very yellowed) The tile faces resemble "french ivory"(you can see that clearly in the pic of the single red dragon tile) which was a plastic made to somewhat resemble the patterns in ivory. Description says: "Set 302: A complete set of 144 tiles (standard size) with ivory-pyralin faces, in three oriental colors..." there is a bit more There are 4 layers of tiles (shown in open box pic) 36 tiles to each layer = 144 tiles, pyralin counters, 2 dice. Tile backs are clean with 1 damaged - believe it can be glued back together-all the fronts are undamaged... although how clean I can't tell you until you try and wash them. This is in artificial light so I gave you a number of different lighting views. To me they all have a light to darker yellowish tint. The box is wooden. The sliding cover doesn't fit tight any longer. The separator needs to be reglued. Everything was handmade in China. The set is complete as far as I can tell. Please view all photos.
