Each individual CPU brace is carefully measured for correct thickness and sanded down if necessary before shipment. When the system is re-assembled with this CPU brace installed, the CPU may experience better thermal conductivity with the heatsink, resulting in lower operating temperatures. This CPU brace allows for an even distribution of pressure across the entire CPU, making it a safe alternative to the "eraser mod" which can warp or permanently damage the CPU.
