Description: PRESCUT Clear Glass Creamer, one (1) and Open Sugar Bowl, one (1) for sale with classic 10-point palm and eight point star pattern alternating. A total of two (2) items are for sale for one price. The Creamer is 3” in diameter at top and 4” tall at tip of pouring spout. Beautiful flared pouring spout. The Open Sugar Bowl is 3-1/2” in diameter and 3” tall. Heavy weighted foot on each piece. This pattern was manufactured by the Anchor Hocking Glass Company in Lancaster, Ohio from 1941 into the 1970s, and some glass experts say beyond. Many sellers might indicate to you that this is Depression Era glassware, but friends, Anchor Hocking made this glassware to mimic glassware from the 1930’s. Some of these items were produced during the time period starting in 1960, others later. This pattern is the Early American Prescut Clear, (EAPC), with what some call the "Star of David”, or the alternate eight point star component. The mold had no maker’s mark or logo. The mold as you will note is two piece as manifested by the mold marks on either side. This is a Dazzling ART DECO style piece. As you might observe, it is collectible, however friends, I must be honest with you, this pattern is readily available now. In the future after breakage over time and hoarding of the pattern, it will become more valuable. Now is the the time to buy and collect it or use it on the kitchen table and the price is very reasonable. Anchor Hocking intended these patterns to mimic high quality crystal seen in many mansions and large homes and afforded the middle class hard working American Citizen a chance to own something that was BRILLIANT and reasonably priced. Here today we again have a chance to own this precious glassware. These standout high-quality pressed-glass pieces have a very striking geometric design with a timeless Art Deco style that appeals to young couples and the baby boomers alike. This glassware mold was actually pressed onto the outside of the thick and heavy clear glass glob, leaving the inside smooth for easy cleaning and the outside adorned with the fan pattern alternating the the eight point star pattern. The bottom possesses the classic round sunflower burst pattern that is seen through the top of the pieces. These bowls have imitation deeply cut curved miters, forming the fan shapes that intersect to form large 10-point fans on two of the concave sides, the other two sides on the Creamer and Open Sugar Bowl have the Star pattern. The bottom has a star or some describe it as a sunburst. Anchor Hocking advertised these as custard cups. The pattern is named Prescut” Oatmeal" because some pieces were offered as a premium in boxes of Crystal Wedding Oats. There was a time when gifts, prizes and offerings, many of good quality, were placed in grocery products to increase sales. Today we use other marketing tools to enhance sales. I do however foresee the time when US marketers will again use the free gift concept to attract sales. The pressed fan facets sparkle like diamonds or cut glass. It’s an elegant (but reasonably-priced) way to serve your cream and sugar. These pieces will reflect candlelight or spotlights on your table and make a great addition to your collection! They will coordinate very well with your other Early American Prescut pieces. The look and feel of fine cut crystal without the cost! Anchor Hocking named this color "Crystal." And, you might be fooled by its heavy weight. But, it’s NOT lead crystal (as some sellers imply)! It's just beautifully clear glass. Nevertheless, it has the appearance of expensive hand-crafted glassware that's exceptionally stunning and durable. If you want a VINTAGE or RETRO look, this is it! These pieces are in very good used condition. There are NO flakes, chips, nicks, flea bites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, and/or repairs! There is very slight, but appropriate, age-related scratching and/or pattern wear. (Light scratches should be expected in old glass – such as utensil marks on dishes and scuffing on the base from being moved around on a surface. See photos, which are a part of the description.
