Premium Natural Sharpening Stone Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura Various Types Available

Description: Product Listing - Premium Natural Sharpening Stone Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura Description Premium Natural Sharpening Stone Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura was classified more than 40 years ago with the help of the late Kosuke Iwasaki, the late Nagayuki Asano (barber school instructor), and the first-generation Sakamoto Misao (the original nationwide seller of Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura). This classification was necessary because Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura has 12 layers and closely resembles other stones from nearby mountains, making it difficult to distinguish. The product was marked with stamps indicating grade and classification, such as "Asano-inspected" and the grade of Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura. Sales were handled only after the first and second generations of experts carefully inspected the stones. During this time, a research group called "Ikyukai" was formed by well-known figures nationwide, with Mr. Iwasaki leading the way. Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura sharpening stone comes from the mountain where the original Nagura stone was discovered by Nagura Sakon, a descendant of the Heike clan. The KOMA (fine) layer of Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura is especially renowned for its fine grain, highly sought after in sword polishing. Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura helps enhance the sharpening of your blades when used with your sharpening stone. Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura is divided into layers such as KOMA, MEJIRO, TENJYO, BOTAN, and others, with KOMA being exclusive to Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura. ◆Features: The combination of natural and Nagura sharpening stones enhances the sharpening of woodworking tools. It aids in promoting grinding on hard natural stones and alleviating clogging on synthetic stones. If you haven’t used it before, please try one of the stones. Larger flat surfaces can be used directly for sharpening blades. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, TENJO - Tokkyu TENJO - Tokkyu is in stock in large quantities, so the price per gram is low, and it is also fine enough to be used for sharpening the sharp edges of carpentry tools. Tokkyu has stripes. Items with many orange stripes are from newer mines, while items with a light brownish color are from older mines. Items from older mines tend to have straight stripes. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, TENJO - Betsujo There was a lot of stock in the two-layer TENJO layer, but now the white Betsujo has decreased considerably. It is a good deal because it is a reasonable size. There may be air bubbles, and occasionally there may be sand stuck inside, but if that happens, it is not a problem if you remove it with a nail. Nagura can increase the polishing power of the finishing sharpening due to the quartz grinding juice contained in it. It also acts to sharpen the surface of the natural whetstone, which loses its polishing power during sharpening, and sharpening increases the polishing power. It is also very effective for sharpening sintered diamond whetstones. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, TENJO - Betsudaijo The white product is called Betsudaijo, and Betsudaijo is Jun Mikawa Shironagura, which has an even flatter surface. The flat surface allows you to place a blade directly on it to sharpen it. There used to be a lot of Tenjo Betsudaijo, but now that there are no Jun Mikawa Shironagura stones of this size, they are rarely in stock. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, MEJIRO - Tokkyu Among the MEJIRO, KOMA, TENJO, Yae BOTAN, and BOTAN used for planes, etc., this has the smallest grain of all Jun Mikawa Shironagura stones, along with Koma. Currently, MEJIRO, along with BOTAN, is running low on raw stones. It can be said that there are almost no well-shaped square stones left. When sharpening carpentry tools with a hard natural whetstone, I recommend MEJIRO or TENJO, which have a fine grain and are hard. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, MEJIRO - Betsujo If you were to choose one of MEJIRO, KOMA, TENJO, or BOTAN to use for a plane or chisel, the safe choice would be Betsujo, considering the price, fineness of the grain, and the characteristics of the layer. Betsujo does not have a flat surface, so you cannot sharpen blades directly with it, but it is small and therefore affordable. When wetted with water, many MEJIRO Betsujo pieces turn a darker gray color than other Jun Mikawa Shironagura pieces. ◇Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura, BOTAN - Betsujo BOTAN are now scarce, and it is difficult to find raw stones. BOTAN - Betsujo and KOMA - Betsujo have a thin, light gray pattern, so they may look similar at first glance, but the KOMA does not have a layer of sand bites and is not powdery. There is always one layer of sand in it, and it rarely splits into upper and lower parts, so it is used for itame. If you look closely, you will see a layer with black dots, and the bottom is attached parallel to that layer. ◇Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura, BOTAN - Betsudaijo This pure Mikawa Shiro Nagura whetstone BOTAN - Betsudaijo is a Nagura whetstone that is large enough to hold a blade. It is not as hard as KOMA, MEJIRO, or TENJO. You can feel the strong abrasive power of the BOTAN. Because it is soft, it is easy for the whetstone to produce abrasive juice, which means it has a strong abrasive power. Previously, there were square Betsudaijo whetstones of standard dimensions, but now square products are rarely found. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, BOTAN - Tokkyujo This pure Mikawa Shironagura whetstone BOTAN - Tokkyu has stripes in the BOTAN layer and a flat surface on the top. Larger ones can be placed on a blade. There used to be a lot of BOTAN - Tokkyu, but now that there are no pure Mikawa Shironagura raw stones that can produce this size, they are rarely available. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, BOTAN - Tokkyu There were fewer special grade buttons than before, but they may come out in clusters from the raw stones. Among the mejiro, koma, tenjo, and buttons used for finishing sharpening, where the effect is easy to see, buttons are effective for speedy sharpening. There is always one layer of sand-filled veins, and it may occasionally split into upper and lower parts, but by using it as a cross grain, this does not cause a problem. Sometimes the raw stone may split into upper and lower parts at the sand layer. Such products are thin. ◇Jun Mikawa Shironagura, BOTAN - Jokyu BOTAN - Jokyu have the properties of BOTAN, but are priced cheaper due to the presence of black spots. The black dots are not a problem if used as a Nagura. The BOTAN are now gone, and it is difficult to find raw stones. There is always one layer of sand-filled streaks. It is used for itame because it rarely splits into upper and lower parts. If you look closely, you can see a layer with black dots, and the bottom is attached parallel to that layer. ◇Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura, KOMA - Tokkyu The KOMA - Tokkyu is a Nagura with stripes. It is also recommended for those who want a fine-grained Nagura. There are hardly any large pieces with good shape nowadays, and small pieces are embedded in wood and used for sword polishing. The KOMA - Tokkyu is a rare gem with a well-formed shape. ◇Jun Mikawa Shiro Nagura, KOMA - Betsujo The pure Mikawa Shiro Nagura is the finest and hardest. It may have small, light gray spots. It seems that only the KOMA were mined for swords in ancient times, and the other layers of Nagura were piled up in the empty corners of the tunnels. It is also called "Fine Nagura". If you have about 200g, you can fix it to a wooden board and it is enough for sharpening swords. ◇Jun Mikawa Shiranagura, KOMA - Jokyu Like regular tops, it has a fine texture and strong sharpening power, but it is inexpensive because it contains black spots. Please use it to extract whetstone juice from natural whetstones. If you apply it directly to the blade, it may scratch the blade. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us.
