The secret is the two-layer filter. The outer layer is heat resistant, allowing the machine to pick up warm ash up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. And just in case, the motor has an auto-shutoff feature which turns off the machine if heat inside the canister ever reaches dangerous levels.
