Description: The work is in a very nice period frame in very good condition . With attribution plaque. This painting was relined sometime in the mid 20th c and is in very good stable condition, no flaking present.. Stretcher bars seem to have been replaced at the time of relining. No legible signature is visible. Some minimal added restoration paint on upper corners and upper center. No restoration is visible under black light on face or body. We believe this is not a self portrait but a portrait of his brother Abram Constable. We are treasure hunters and this is one of our greatest finds in 30 years in business, unfortunately there's not any real provenance, please consult your own expert.
