Just a fantastic desert shade tree. Keep canopy base pruned low to prevent sun-scald. Tolerant of dry, rocky slopes and poor soils. This is a great pine for Bonsai, or as a larger container-grown architectural focal point. Often grown as a desert Christmas Tree, and as a good buffer, privacy, median, and water-wise tree across the Southwest. For best results plant next to a 'nurse plant' that can provide shelter from wind and sun while the plant becomes established, similar to Saguaro cacti and Palo Verde trees. (Annuals like Sunflowers can do this great!) Protect the small immature plants from rabbits and deer.Good drainage is very essential for this plant to thrive. It needs very little supplemental water once established, but irrigate by watering deeply and then allowing it to dry between waterings to help the plant send roots deep into the earth in search of moisture, this will help it establish itself to be drought-tolerant and build resilience to heat and cold. The length of time between waterings will vary depending on your growing conditions and environment. These plants are sold for the purposes of ornamental cultivation. Any other uses are at the discretion of the buyer. Seller is not responsible for any harm or injury caused by improper handling or ingestion of the plant. Our plants are shipped with considerable personal time, cost, and careful attention so that they will arrive at their destination in good health, intact, and ready to adapt to a new environment. Orders will be processed and shipped within 1-2 business days. We have heat packs available for purchase with your order if you expect freezing temperatures the week your plant is shipped. The pot or rootball will be specially packed to prevent loss of moisture during the shipping process, but will still need to be unwrapped, and watered-in directly upon arrival to prevent further stress. Use caution when unpacking plants with sharp spines or thorns. Keep in a shady location protected from the sun and wind if not immediately transplanting.Plants can experience some stress during shipping and may experience a few damaged or yellow leaves.
