Pinocchio was first-published in 1883; the book offered here is the first edition with these illustrations. It measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" and is 205 pages and in Good-Very Good condition only with some soiling, handling, and wear and with the spine lettering faded away. There is a 1934 Christmas gift inscription from "Mother and Daddy" to their son; there is some inevitable age-toning to the pages, made from inexpensive paper. There are five, full-page, charming, color illustrations by Alice Carsey, who also has done over 30 line drawings of varying size. She has fully-decorated the endpapers, and her color illustration on the front board is not repeated within the book. There is no former-owner's bookplate inside, and there are no loose pages.
