Description: PHOENIX Consolidated Art Glass BUD VASE, Mustard CUT VELVET, 1920s-30s era I'm pleased to offer this lovely bud vase by Phoenix Art Glass, from the 1920s-30 era. This is from their CUT VELVET line, in a mustard color. The vase stands 6" tall, 3.125" wide at the base, and .8" wide at the rim. There is a small flat chip on the edge of the rim - please see my photos including an extreme closeup. It's not major but definitely a flaw. This vase has a gold painted rim, which I'm not sure is original - perhaps the previous owner added that? No other chips, cracks or damage. Wonderful vintage vase in something of a "hard to find" color. See below for some history of this interesting US glass company. Phoenix Glass Company was opened first in 1880, in a small town in Pennsylvania, USA. It was the major domestic manufacturer of colored and specialty glass between that time frame and the turn of the century and within this relatively short period of time, the firm made a wide variety of art glass products in a large number of colors and effects. There were several years in the 1930's that another company, Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company, closed their shop to avoid running at a loss - and they loaned their molds to Phoenix to produce. After the molds were returned in 1936, they no longer produced items using Consolidated's molds - but there you have the connection between the two companies.
