Description: This is the Peacock pitcher produced by Brush-McCoy Pottery Co., Roseville, Ohio, 1911 - 1923, the Peacock in profile is standing on the brick wall. The mottled brown glaze was produced by Brush-McCoy who named it "Nurock," In addition to Nurock, Peacock pieces were decorated with a blended Blue and White glaze. The Peacock line totaled 16 pieces including several sizes bowls, coffee pot, spittoon, and more. Nurock glazed pieces are often confused with Bennington and Rockingham. For great illustrations and excellent discussion of the Brush-McCoy Peacock line, as well as a veritable plethora of many other Brush-McCoy pieces, please refer to any of the Brush-McCoy books, book 1 and book 2, by Martha and Steve Sanford. The pitcher décor motif features a raised relief design of a peacock along with what seems to be a palm tree and flowering bush in the background on both sides of the pitcher. The pitcher has a large handle and there is no manufacturer stamp on the bottom. The pitcher is in excellent condition for its age. There are two chips on the inside of the spout (see pencil in photos) and prominent crazing on the outside and inside of the pitcher due to aging and/or under-glazing the jug. Pitcher dimensions: H: 8-1/4”, W: 8-1/2” (greatest width). The pitcher weights a little over 4 pounds. What I pay for shipping is what you pay.
