Description: Past Patterns PP#0109Early 1900s Petticoat Sewing Pattern Our Early 1900s Petticoat sewing pattern is an old favorite and an original Past Patterns design. It was initially published in 1982 and retired because the methods to create the pattern were those used before 1989. Prior to reintroducing it, we updated the pattern's sizes to 8 through 26, added fabric layouts, an assembly diagram, lace identification as well as seams and their uses. While the Edwardian petticoat-skirt looks complicated, it is like most Edwardian clothing - extravagantly embellished. Under the lace and ribbon is a simple four-gored shape with a ruffle. The lace is placed on the fabric and the fabric behind the lace is cut away. It was mostly machine sewn. The simple instructions are written, not illustrated. To see the garment being produced, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD9QmRSPQS8For a complete Edwardian ensemble consider ordering Past Patterns item #0108 - Corset Covers, item #0117 - French Drawers, item #0107 - Combination and item 0106 - Edwardian Corset.★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Sizes included in this pattern – 08-26Waist Sizes 24 ½ “- 40 ¼”Hips Sizes 34 ½” – 50”★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Requirements for Fabric, Lace Edging, Insert Lace, Lace Beading, and RibbonIf using 45" Fabric in white cotton organdy, silk taffeta, or light weight cotton:The sizes 8-14 requires 6-7/8 Yds., sizes 16-20 requires 7 Yds., sizes 22-26 requires 7-1/8 Yds.If using 3-1/2" Wide Lace Edging to ruffle:The sizes 8-14 requires 12 Yds., sizes 16-20 requires 13 Yds., sizes 22-26 requires 14 Yds.If using pre-ruffled trim lace:The sizes 8-14 requires 7-7/8 Yds., sizes 16-20 requires 8-1/8 Yds., sizes 22-26 requires 8-5/8 Yds.If using 1" Wide Lace Edging to ruffle:The sizes 8-14 requires 6-1/2 Yds., sizes 16-20 requires 8 Yds., sizes 22-26 requires 10 Yds. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0109 Thanks for looking!
