Description: You are bidding on one 2-3/8" wide frog for a round side Keen Kutter K4-1/2 or K6 or K7 or other same width wood plane as pictured.Keen Kutter was a brand name used by first the Simmons Hardware Company and later by the Shapleigh Hardware Company when they purchased Simmons. Bench planes that are marked with a single K -- K6 or K7 for example -- were made by Stanley. They used the Stanley Bedrock style frogs.Bench planes that are marked with a double KK -- KK6 or KK7 for example -- were made by Ohio Tool. This frog is not marked anywhere, and it has the early round side Bedrock style which would use regular screws and washers to attach the frog (not included) to the plane. This frog also has the twisted lateral lever which suggests that it is a Keen Kutter (made by Stanley as described above) frog or perhaps a Winchester (made by Stanley) frog. A Stanley Bedrock plane would have had the typical Stanley lateral lever. Overall width is a hair over 2-3/8". Condition is good but wanting a cleaning, with some rust and dirt. There are some tiny chips in the lower edge. I have checked the rear clip screw and the lever cap screw, and they will turn and are not frozen in place. The brass adjusting nut turns easily, while the lateral lever moves more stiffly. SHIPPING: 2 pounds when boxed, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance is included. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
