The beautiful statue shows Avalokitesvara (also called Chenrezig). The statue is a bit older, about 25 years old. The material is bronze. The workmanship is very fine. The statue weighs 3.2 kilos. The floor below is open. This shows that the statue was not artificially weighted, as the contents of statues are often filled with concrete to artificially weight them down. So it is bronze through and through! Simply beautiful to place on the home altar or shrine... Dimensions: 25 cm high, 17 cm wide, 13 cm deep Avalokitesvara, in Tibetan Buddhism, is the Buddha of perfect compassion and the gathering point of all Buddhas. This universal compassion encompasses all beings. In his hands he holds the lotus flower and his mala ( tibetan rosary). In his other two hands he holds the Cintamani (his wish jewel). In his relative aspect, Lokesvara appears for the benefit of all beings in the form of a great bodhisattva of the tenth stage, a heart-son of all Buddhas. He is the universal ruler of this age and is called the "Supreme Ruler", the Lord of Dharma (teaching), the King of wisdom and compassion, completely free from the three worlds of the cycle of existence and forever beyond the reach of birth, age, sickness and death removed. Chenrezi's six syllable mantra - OM MANI PADME HUM - is the compassionate wisdom of all Buddhas.
