Description: A beautiful pair of antique andirons or firedogs, featuring the bust of a young woman in victorian hair dress. Stamped at the bottom of each appears the word "ORTHE" upside down. (That is my best guess. Orthe in greek means upright or straight.) Very good antique condition; some light oxidation as pictured, will leave to new owner to remove. In solid, completely intact condition (oxidation is light and at surface only). No date or maker's stamp, but heavy patina from age and design and suggests 19th cent. Each is 3" wide at base, 6.5" long and 6.5" tall. Each weighs just under 4 lbs.
