Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful pair of Herend Hungary porcelain individual ashtrays in the "Rothschild Bird" pattern with 24K gold trim. These gorgeous ashtrays are decorated with colorful birds perched on branches with a butterfly and flying insect on sides against a white porcelain ground. Both ashtrays are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. These pieces would also make beautiful nut/mint dishes when entertaining. Two slightly different sizes with the largest measuring 5 1/4" long and 3 1/2" wide and the smaller measuring 4 3/8" long and 3" wide. Small ashtray is marked with old Herend Hungary trademark used from 1915-1930's and "Hungary" and with larger ashtray marked with Herend's current trademark stamp. This pattern was created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered by many to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. There are 12 different designs incorporated within this gorgeous pattern.
