The bottoms of the cups and saucers are marked THEODORE HAVILAND. LIMOGES. FRANCE. PATENT APPLIED FOR. The items also have the Wanamaker importer’s mark which includes a large letter “W” within a wreath and a banner with the words PHILADELPHIA, PARIS, and NEW YORK. The maker’s marks are quite jumbled on the bottoms of the cups. We believe that this was an error during the manufacturing process with the transfer being damaged and/or folded when applied. We are unsure as to exactly how old the pieces are but based on the marks believe them to date from 1903-1924. The sets are beautifully designed with a gilded decorated floral pattern. The saucers measure roughly 5” in diameter. The cups measure roughly 2” in height. The rims of the cups measure roughly 2 1/2” in diameter. The combined weight of the items is 8.8 oz. One of the cups has a large hairline crack that can be seen inside and outside of the cup that runs its entire height. The bottom rim also has a chipped area. The items also have aging, wear, fading, scratches, nicks, manufacturing imperfections, and general wear (see pictures).
