Description: A fine figural watercolor painting by Chinese artist Shi Jing (b.1964). The image depicts a young female standing at a window and fronted by a pot of blossoming flowers. The painting is signed with the artist's seal and dated in characters for 1991. Good sized, the image measures 17 1/2 x 18 3/4 inches and is painted on washi type paper. It has some paper tape residue around the edges and the reverse shows mild rippling and some discoloration, otherwise it is in excellent condition. Shi Jing (b.1964) is a Beijing based contemporary Chinese painter. He entered the Children's Palace to learn painting when quite young and continued on to the Beijing Art Technical School to study Chinese painting with Mr. Liu Mu. By the late 1980s, Shi Jing was working at the Chinese Painting Research Institute, and then left to become a professional painter. After continuous study and exploration, he has gradually formed his own distinctive style and unique oeuvre that is highly praised. In August 1994, he held a solo exhibition at the Collector Art Gallery in Hong Kong. In October 1998, he was invited to participate in the Yanhuang Art Museum, Beijing Invitational Exhibition of Young and Middle-aged Painters. In June 2002, he undertook a solo exhibition tour in Malaysia and Singapore. His works have been exhibited in many national art exhibitions in his native country. In 2013 a large Shi Jing watercolor of two women fetched over $18,000 at a Beijing auction.
