Description: Pacific Stoneware Bennett Welsh Signed Pottery Blue Vintage 4 3/8" Bowl 1960- Click images to enlarge Description Pacific Stoneware Bennett Welsh Signed Art Pottery Blue Green Vintage 4 3/8" Bowl 1960-1986 This is in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Very Nice Bennett Welsh Pacific Stoneware Art Pottery Bowl. This features a cobalt blue flambe glaze exterior body with a green brush stroke type design inside. It has an unglazed base and is signed with the B W mark. This special pottery bowl was one of a limited amount that was purchased from the Michael Parsons Fine Art Gallery in Portland Oregon. For more information See pictures #11 & #12. In 1959, Pacific Stoneware filed for bankruptcy and shut its doors. The following year, Bennett Welsh, a thirty-seven-year-old ceramicist at Tektronix, bought the company. He had studied pottery at the Museum Art School (now the Pacific Northwest College of Art) and had aspirations to be a studio potter. Welsh put much of the old line of butter churns, crocks, and flowerpots back into production and began to manufacture artistic homewares such as vases, casserole dishes, and mugs in the folk style popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The wares were made by beginning and student potters who worked at Pacific Stoneware to learn production pottery. Michael Parsons 1957 to 2022 This special pottery bowl was one of a limited amount that was purchased from the Michael Parsons Fine Art Gallery in Portland Oregon. He established Michael Parsons Fine Art in Park Blocks. Michael became a leading expert on Northwest fine art and organized many shows featuring Northwest artists at his gallery, area colleges, and other venues. He dedicated his life to bringing classical music and fine art into people's lives because he believed that music and art provide a compass to better understand and interpret our complex world.
