Description: >Offered here is an old and original late 1800's or very early 1900's FIRE ESCAPE heavy brass/cast iron plaque!! Please see all nine photos, as they are an important part of my description. Found here in Oregon, this thick brass antique fire escape plaque measures approximately 13 3/4" x 7 1/2, and features thick red glass on the plaque's backside. The person I acquired this "industrial artifact" plaque from told me it was very, very old based on the plaque's style...most likely early 1900's and possibly even older than that. Don't let its compact size fool you - it's a hefty sign weighing in at nearly four pounds (3 lbs., 11 oz. to be exact). The thick red glass is "pimple-textured" on the front side, and smooth on the backside. Note the R, A and P letters, where the cast iron was cut more ornately than the other letters...gorgeous! There are two holes on the left and right sides of the plaque, which were originally utilized for mounting purposes. The fully-intact red glass remains securely in place (no cracks). Absolutely beautiful patina on the plaque's front side! My final photo features the vintage fire escape plaque with daylight poring through the bright red glass (the plaque is not black, as it appears in this pic; the plaque's true color is present in all of my other photos). A truly rare example for this unusual style for a fire escape plaque...don't miss this one! <>Condition: in very *Fine Shape* overall, with minimal age/handling faults (if you can even refer to them as "faults"!). The offered antique plaque was used but not abused, and is extremely well-preserved and ready for display...YES, it looks as great as my photos suggest!
