The Moravian Civic Movement was a Moravian political movement founded after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Its founder was JUDr. Miroslav Richter, who already led unofficial pro-Moravian activities in the 1970s and 1980s.The movement played a huge role in the efforts for the emancipation of Moravia in the first months after the Velvet Revolution. It set itself the goal of uniting all citizens in the effort for equal economic, cultural and social status of Moravia in Czechoslovakia. Already at the beginning of December 1989, the movement organized the first assembly of citizens in the club on Selepova street in Brno, which clearly spoke in favor of the restoration of the land system and the rehabilitation of Moravia in the former Czechoslovakia.In the 1990 elections, the Moravian Civic Movement nominated some of its members on the candidate list of the Christian and Democratic Union coalition.The Moravian Civic Movement failed in the elections, and its only member - Ing.
