Description: The East End Gallery The East End Gallery is a full- service gallery offering fine art sales, restoration and framing services. We specialize in 18th, 19th, and 20th century, vintage and mid-century modern, etchings and engravings and lithographic prints. We have a large eclectic collection of work. We are located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley. We are on Main street, in Boyce Virginia. We try and describe the pieces of art as carefully as we can, but please keep in mind there may be expected wear and tear on a 100-200 year old piece of paper. We will often restore and reframe a piece before it is listed and the listing and price will reflect that. Sometimes we are able to get pieces at a really good price and will pass the savings onto you. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! Be sure to check out our other items. Offering an 1876 original political cartoon by Thomas Nast(1840-1902). " 'Tis the Times' Plague when Madmen lead the Blind" Shakespeare. From Harpers Weekly, comes this full size cartoon that certainly seems apt for today. It has been framed and matted and placed in an outstanding solid mahogany wood frame. The frame measures 29 by 21 inches and the image view is 13 by 20 1/2 inches. The frame is an antique frame and quite valuable itself. Thomas Nast was a German-American editorial cartoonist considered the Father of the American Cartoon. He created satirical art during the 19th Century that critiqued slavery and crime and corruption in American government.
