Description: My Dad bought this kit for me in 1965 when I was 12 from the Great Henry Adler Gretsch music store in NYC. 46th st.Henry taught Buddy Rich how to read music and co-wrote BR snare drum rudiments in 1942 which I think probably was the most taught book for drummers ever. The 22/14/12 were bought in 1965 then we went back in 1969 and bought the 13 and the 16 toms. The original color was Midnight blue Pearl.I'll always remember Henry smoking his cigarette and his pencil style mustache.Back in 1977 I stripped the drums of the wrap and stained the shells with Minwax wood stain Ipswich pine then coated with a clear sealer. I drilled a hole in the 12 and 13 so I could use Slingerland set-o-matic single or double mount. The 14 and 16 have no xtra holes.I removed the Gretsch rail consolette and mounted the Slingerland bass drum mount which I could use a single or double mount. The Slingerland tom diamond plates were the same size as the Gretsch diamond plates.I installed the Gretsch bass drum mount which allows the use of double toms with the Gretsch DT bracket or use the 12 tom with the L- mount. Also, included is the new rims 13" mount if you prefer using the 13.The Gretsch Bass drum badge was placed in the lower rail consolette hole. The Slingerland bass drum mount was removed and the current Gretsch mount was fitted but left those two smaller holes filled from the Slingerland BD mount.
